DJI Mavic Air 2 vs Hubsan Zino Pro Camera Drone Comparison

In this article we compare the specs and features of the DJI Mavic Air 2 and the Hubsan Zino Pro camera drones.

You can compare these two drones in more depth at our one of a kind drone comparisons tool, filter film making drones to narrow down features you want in an aerial photography drone and much more.

Spec Comparison of the DJI Mavic Air 2 and the Hubsan Zino Pro

The Hubsan Zino Pro and DJI Mavic Air 2 are both 2nd generation camera drones for their respective model, the Zino and the Mavic Air series.

The Hubsan Zino Pro was released in late 2019 and is 7 months old at the time of writing and the Mavic Air 2 was released recently in spring of 2020.

The Mavic Air 2 is twice the price of the Hubsan Zino Pro, at $999 with the fly more combo and $449 for the Hubsan Zino Pro.

Physical Comparison

The Hubsan Zino Pro is slightly smaller than the Mavic Air 2, at 192mm in diagonal length when folded up in to its smallest form.

This is compared to 200mm/20cm of the Mavic Air 2 in its smallest form, as it too has folding arms.

This is a very similar sized drone in this regards.

When looking at the other dimensions the width is very similar when they are both folded up and the height is just a few mm more for the Hubsan Zino Pro.

This equates to a slightly larger volume and total size for the Hubsan Zino Pro, at 1705cm³ compared to 1466cm³ for the Mavic Air 2.

This is 250ml larger size for the Hubsan Zino Pro.

The weight has more difference between the two, with the Mavic Air 2 weighing much less, at 570grams in total and the Hubsan Zino Pro weighing 709 grams.

Performance Comparison

The Hubsan Zino Pro has a decent upgrade compare to that of the original Zino and that upgrade comes in the form of top end speed.

The DJI Mavic Air 2 has a top speed of 68kmh, which is 9kmh faster than the Zino Pro, not much of a difference and they are both pretty fast camera drones.

The transmission distance for the Mavic Air 2 is over double that of the Hubsan Zino Pro, at a total video transmission of 10km. This is compared to the 4km of the Hubsan Zino Pro.

Flight time is quite different, with the MA2 totalling 34 minutes and the Hubsan Zino Pro capable of flights of 23 minutes in total.

You get more obstacle avoidance with the Mavic Air 2 as it has front, back and downward obstacle avoidance, compared to none on the Hubsan Zino Pro.

Photo and Video Comparison

The cameras are much different to one another, with the field of view the first difference, the Mavic Air 2 being 84degrees FOV and the Hubsan Zino Pro having an 80° field of view.

This means you will see a bit more with the DJI Mavic Air 2 compared to the Hubsan Zino Pro when they are both in the same location in the sky.

The video bitrate is exactly double that on the DJI Mavic Air 2 of the Hubsan Zino Pro. With the MA2 recording 120 mbps video files and the Hubsn Zino Pro recording 60 mbps video files.

You get a slightly larger image sensor on the Mavic Air 2 of 1/2", compared to 1/2.3" on the Hubsan Zino, this is a size increase of .34mm, so barely half a millimetre in size difference.

In terms of video features, you get 1080p at 240fps with the Mavic Air 2 and 4K at 60fps.

You get raw photography and video file formats with the Mavic Air 2, in the form of DNG for photos and d-cinelike flat profile for videos.

This is great if you want to look in to colour grading your own video footage.

You get a number of auto shooting modes for photography and videography on both camera drones with the Mavic Air 2 having a few more features, such as waypoint timelapses.

Both camera drones use a 3-axis gimbal to smooth out their video footage.

Summary

The Mavic Air 2 is obviously a much better camera drone, but you are paying more than double the price for it.

The Hubsan Zino Pro has some fantastic features still and could be your entry in to aerial photography and drone film making as we believe it's a fantastic camera drone for the money.
