DJI Mavic Mini vs Xiaomi Fimi A3 Camera Drone Comparison

In this article we compare the specs and features of the DJI Mavic Mini and the Xiaomi Fimi A3 camera drones.

You can compare these two drones in more depth at our one of a kind drone comparisons tool, filter film making drones to narrow down features you want in an aerial photography drone and much more.

Spec Comparison of the DJI Mavic Mini and the Xiaomi Fimi A3 Camera Drones

One of the cheapest camera drones on the market, the Xiaomi Fimi A3 and the sub $500 DJI Mavic Mini, how do they compare.

Below you can see a table of their specs and features and compare them side by side and here we do a bit of a breakdown to see which is the best for you and your needs.

The Fimi A3 is not a folding drone so already it is going to be bigger and it is also double the weight.

The DJI mavic Mini weighs just 249grams and the Fimi A3 double that at 560 grams. This is both ready to take off with batteries and propellers.

They Mini can see a bit more with a wider FOV at 83° compared to the 80° of the Fimi A3.

In terms of performance, the A3 can fly much faster in the sky with a top speed of 64kmh and ascend and descend more quickly too.

it is let down with its transmission distance of just 1km, as the Mini can cover over 4km and it has a shorter flight time of just 25 minutes, which isn't too bad.

The Mavic Mini can fly for up to 30 minutes which is incredible considering it's size.

Photo and Camera Comparison of the DJI Mavic Mini and the Fimi A3

They both use different image sensors of 1/2.3" for the Mavic Mini and 1/3.2" for the Fimi A3 which is much smaller, actually 2mm diagonally smaller, so don't expect as good a shot with the A3 in comparison, especially in darker environments.

The Mavic Mini can also take 12MP photos, compared to just 8MP for the Fimi A3 and is the same with video resolutions.

The Mini can do up to 2.7k whilst the Fimi A3 is limited to 1080p.

You only get a 2-axis gimbal with the Xiaomi Fimi A3 compared to 3-axis on the DJI, which means smoother shots for the DJI Mavic Mini.

Both take MP4 videos and save photos as JPEGs.

Summary

The Fimi A3, although not small, is light and a decent entry to drone flying and film making in the air. It doesn't outshine the Mavic Mini, but also costs much less too.

Both interesting little entry drones to aerial photography that we're sure you love both of depending on your circumstances.
