Spec Comparison of the Xiaomi Fimi X8 SE 2020 and the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2
Here we look at the spec and features of each drone and compare them one v one to see who comes out on top.
The first thing you will notice is the size difference between the two. The Xiaomi Fimi X8 SE 2020 is a camera drone that folds with folding arms. The DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2 is not a folding camera drone and is the same size when in use and packed away as it has no folding features.
The next thing you will notice when looking at these two camera drones is the price the Xiaomi Fimi X8 SE 2020 is around $399 - $449 depending on where you look and the DJI Phantom 4 is quadruple that at $1999.
One of the first spec comparisons is that of size and dimensions. The Fimi X8 SE 2020 has a total volume of 1556cm cubed when you add it's dimensions up. The DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2 has nearly double that volume, with a total size of 2854cm³.
Both of these drones have a similar max speed of 65kmh for the Fimi and 72kmh for the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2. You won't find many camera drones for film making and aerial photography as fast as these.
You get a slightly faster ascent speed of 6m/s for the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2, compared to 5m/s for the Fimi and the same 4m/s descent speed for them both.
The next big difference comes in the form of max wind speed tolerance, with the Fimi doing much better in this area. It has a top wind speed of 50kmh, and the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2 can handle wind speeds of 36kmh, which is a 14kmh wind speed difference.
The transmission distance is also slightly larger on the Fimi X8 SE 2020 with 8km max transmission compared to 7km for the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2.
Flight time is great on both camera drones, with 35 minutes for the Xiaomi FImi X8 SE 2020 which is 5 minutes better than that of the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2. That is quite a bit of a difference and those 5 minutes could prove vital to your aerial photography and film making work.
The Fimi also comes out on top in terms of noise level. It has a decibel noise level of 68db when taking off at head height with the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2 having 77 decibels at head height. So it isn't the loudest but is 9 db louder than the Fimi.
You get a quicker charge time with the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2 of 70 minutes. The Fimi has a stated charge time of 210 minutes, but we believe it is much faster than that from our tests.
The theoretical distance they can both fly is almost identical, at 37.91km for the Fimi X8 SE 2020 and 36km for the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2. This is worked out from their top speed and flight time in minutes. It is only theoretical and there just to give another comparison between the camera drones.
Photo and Video Comparison of the Xiaomi Fimi X8 SE 2020 and the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2
This is where we should see the DJI Phantom shine, as it has a 1" image sensor, compared to the 1/2.6" of the Fimi, this is almost a double the size image sensor for the DJI so should do better in low light and other areas.
You get 12mp photos on the Fimi and 20mp on the DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2, so an 8mp improvement there. This is great for those looking to do aerial photography and creating prints.
You get slow motion on both of the camera drones at 1080p with the DJI having 120fps to work with and the Fimi having 100fps at 1080p.
You can take raw photos and flat profile videos on both camera drones.
They also both shoot at 4K and at 30fps, with 2.7k at 60fps.
Both camera drones seem very suited to high wind, fast motion aerial shooting.
The main differences are their sizes, one is folded and the other not.
As well as the image sensor size of the DJI, it is 1" double the size of the Fimi's camera.
There are some differences that would make you want one drone over the other depending on your work or needs.
